Ubuntu Linux Is The Alternative to Mainstream OS

Recently, I’ve started to use Ubuntu Linux as my dedicated desktop operating system as an alternative to using Microsoft Windows or Mac OS X, which currently are the two most popular desktop operating systems in the world. Immediately upon first using Ubuntu, I discovered that Ubuntu is a robust operating system out of the box. Its performance versus Windows 10 installed on the same Dell Inspiron i5 laptop was an improvement over Microsoft. Therefore, the satisfactory experience of using Ubuntu was compelling enough for me to write an article for my blog noting some of the virtues of using Ubuntu.

Ubuntu is free, easy to install, and compatible with about any laptop.

Here are the minimum requirements for installing Ubuntu Desktop Edition on a desktop or laptop computer.

  • You will need a 2 GHz dual core processor or faster
  • 4 GB of RAM or greater is necessary
  • 25 GB of hard rive or more
  • VGA with 1024 x 768 resolution
  • Either a CD/DVD drive or USB port for installation (I recommend USB port for installation)
  • Internet access is always useful but not needed

There is plenty of free applications available for Ubuntu.
