The Russian Embassy in Afghanistan reports that President Ashraf Ghani left with a helicopter and four cars. The fleeing helicopter was so full of cash that some money had to be left behind. The four automobiles fled full of bundles as well.
Later reports on August 21st say that Ghani had traveled to Termez in Uzbekistan, where he rested for one night, and then he traveled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Later reports also say that Ghani arrived with no money. He was only with the clothes he was wearing.
It would appear that the Taliban now control Afghanistan.
