The missile strike was just one day after Guterres met with Russian President Putin in Moscow. Ukrainian government officials essentially consider the timing of the act mocking the UN institute.
The Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Oleksii Reznikov tweeted on Thursday Evening:
“While the UN Secretary General @antonioguterres is visiting Kyiv, a permanent member of the UN Security Council – russia – is launching missile strikes on the city. This is an attack on the security of the Secretary General and on world security!”
According to news sources, the Russian missiles hit two lower floors of a residential apartment building in Kyiv, Ukraine. Kyiv mayor and former professional boxer Vitali Klitschko is quoted: “Kyiv is still a dangerous place, and Kyiv is still the target of Russians.”
